I ran a freaking Marathon!

Yesterday I climbed out of bed at 1:30am got dressed- braided my hair back out of my face- stretched- dragged my hubby out of bed and got loaded in the car. At 3 am we arrived at the Energy solutions arena where we waited to get me loaded onto the shuttle that would take me to the top of a mountain that I was going to run back down on.

My husband slept in the car and I waited at the top of a mountain from 4am until 530 am.

At 530 am the gun was fired and all like 1000 of us started the long 26.2 miles back down the mountain and let me just say....it was a BlAsT!!!!! Everyone had me so scared about running a marathon. I heard everything from it being more painful than childbirth to people dying from a heart attack at the end. The first 20 miles were awesome! We were in the mountains with a beautiful scenery and it was nice and cool with all the trees, and most importantly, it was for the most part down hill. Around 18 to 20 miles we started the trudge through town. I hate running through town., So the last 6.2 miles were probably the worst. By then it had flattened out, climbed to about 90 degrees, and all I could feel was the pain in my feet. When I hit mile 25 I ran into my sweet husband who ran the last 1.2 miles with me in flip flops.

When I got to the end I sprinted and finished at around 5 1/2 hours.

Not incredible, but not bad. After crossing the finish line they make you stop to take off your timer which is horrible- I almost passed out because of that- just think- I have been running for 5.5 hours and you want me to stop?!

Well anywho....Would I do it again?

Maybe...

....Next Time I will be shooting for a time in the 4 hour range though. As far as recovery- today my back, shoulders and legs are a little sore and my feet don't hurt at all- which is great because I could barely walk yesterday, but my cute hubby rubbed my feet with icy hot so I think the problem was fixed then. What else.... I was rewarded well...we went to IHOP where I got waffles... I was excited.

Wow. I am so impressed! Will and I went running the other night. I only did one mile and I'm sore and achy (which I love), but I can't imagine running for over 5 hours. Way to be!! I'm so proud of you...what an accomplishment!!! You've inspired me to keep trying and to get out there again.

That's incredible! I can't even imagine running for that long - but Mike and I want to eventually run a marathon together, so I guess I'd better start imagining it huh?

Holy cow, that is amazing! I think you're crazy though! that is so cool that you did it, But I can't say I want to someday.... I think I would be one of those people who have a heart attack at the end... and they don't give epidurals for runnning haha!!

You really are hard core! Not everyone has the kind of determination it takes to run a marathon - or get where you have with your degree at BYU! Kudos!

Thanks for chilling with us last night, it was a blast!

Sarah, thanks for your memory of me! So many to choose from . . .I remember your awesome St. Patrick's Day party! I also remember last summer the four of us decided to go to the bean museum and while we were driving there we listened to the acoustic version of "I like big butts" hahaha.
